HERBERT HERFF— Who will be represented by Mimi Mine in the Artful Stakes today, had Gerry Frank to score in her colors in yesterdays third race at the Arlington Park course. MURPHY ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 23. — Bubbley, Calumet Farms fine three-year-old filly, will make here Chicago seasonal debut in the 5,000 added Artful Stakes here tomorrow and will be opposed by 11 of her own age and sex at the six furlong distance. The miss, whose last outing was in the Delaware Oaks at Delaware Park in which she was unplaced, will have Eddie Arcaro in the. saddle, and will carry topweight of 120 pounds. Those slated to oppose Bubbley are Mrs. H. J. Damms Arab Actress, winner of two races at the Lincoln Fields meeting; Mrs. Wallace Gilroys Emardee, winner of a pair of races at Hialeah, including the 5,000 Jasmine Stakes; Mrs. Herbert Herf f s Mimi Mine, Fairway Farms Good Call, Green Acres Stock Farms Sherry L., F. W. Hoopers Eddie Sue, Clifford Lusskys Tuonine, McDermott and Wellmans Task Fleet, Cresson Farms Diane B., Hal Price Headleys Velure, L. L. Haggin LT.s Stone Cold. Bubbley came in for much praise last season when she won the Pollyanna Stakes, with Arcaro up, but was later retired and rested up during the winter. She came , back this season to win the Kentucky Oaks and finish second to Cerise Reine, who later went on to win the Delaware Oaks. Ran Third in Correction Emardees last four starts, three of them in New York and one at Garden State, were not very impressive. Her best was a third back of Parading Lady and Flya-manita in the Correction Handicap at Jamaica. She was beaten off in the Acorn and Rosemont Stakes in New York and the Betsy Ross at Garden State. Arab Actress was outstanding in her two Lincoln - at - Hawthorne successes. Mimi Mine was odds-on choice in each race, but Arab Actress won one dash by seven lengths and another by four. In her other two tries of the year; both of »which were at Churchill Downs, the Damm filly was third to Bubbley and Cerise Reine in the Kentucky Oaks, and second to Wings o Morn in an allowance race, Task Fleet beat both Bubbley and Cerise Reine in an allowance race at Keeneland, but was so lightly regarded that she paid 56 to 1. Velure beat a field of maidens at Belmont and Stone Cold did likewise- at Delaware Park for their lone wins. The secondary feature will be the Ranger, ,000 allowance event for four-year-olds and upward. The Ranger, carded as the seventh race, has lured a band of 12 to contest the mile and one-sixteenth route on the turf course. Topweighted for the Ranger at 120 pounds are W. A. Hangers Iceberg II., Diint.rpaf.hs Farms Whiffpnnnnf "M" A and R. Saffirs Dr. Ole Nelson, Buddah Stables Dance Nsing, Mrs. E. L. Hopkins Three Rings and Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Heutel. The five-year-old Chilean-bred Iceberg TJ., trained by Horatio Luro, has been victorious in three of 12 starts this year. He won the Bougainvillea Handicap last winter at Hialeah, and a pair of allowance races. His last two starts, at Belmont Park, resulted in fourth place finishes. In one of them, the Suburban Handicap, he finished behind Tom Fool, Royal Vale, and Cold Command. Whiffenpoof, seven-year-old Bull Dog gelding, trained by C. R. Simmons, has three wins. A second and three thirds in 14 starts for the current campaign. He has been travelling in rather solid handicap company, but hasnt scored since Gulf-stream Park, where he won the Inaugural Handicap. Completing the Ranger field are Vantage, Raintree, Stoner Creek, Experimental, The Eagle and Hierarchy.
