Ask USTA to Recognize Record MELBOURNE, Australia, June 23 Reuters. — Australian trotting officials decided here last night to ask the United States Trotting Association to recognize as a world record the 3:25 for 12 furlongs paced by the New Zealand mare, Blue Mist, at Bun-bury in Western Australia on April 4. Blue Mists time is said to have been bettered by 2 : 75 the existing record set by the American Scottish Pence in 1951. J. P. Butler, secretary of the Inter-Dominion Trotting Conference said the Australian officials are satisfied that all conditions for a worlds record have been fulfilled. Butler said: "There is only one drawback. In America, a saliva test is required from all horses making record bids to check to see if doped." He added that this is not the practice in Australia, but they are hopeful Blue Mist will not be barred for that reason.
