BICARB worked his way forward to gain a contending position entering the stretch and, after taking command, won drawing away. ROY PRINCE made the pace to the stretch under hustling tactics, was unable to withstand the winner, but held on willingly to easily best the others. JOY K. raced forwardly placed to the furlong marker, then weakened when placed to pressure. CABLE BUG, much used early, had little left. HEIRESS raced evenly* through the late stages without mishap. SARAMULI tired. BONE CHINA never was dangerous. WEDDING BAND quit. AMERICAN PILOT was outrun. PAYM0NEY showed nothing. ROZS BEAU lost his rider leaving the gate. STALK was allowed to settle into best stride, came to the complete outside for the stretch run and, after disposing of BLUE DANDY, held HARLEM SQUARE safe. The latter showed good speed from the start, drifted out slightly during the final furlong and was unable to overtake, the winner. BLUE DANDY raced BUCKSHOT into defeat to hold sway at the furlong marker, then faltered. BUCKSHOT tired when punished. DI0NYSIA was always outrun. SNOW DOWN quit THRUST showed nothing. MAILING LIST, slow to gain best stride, assumed command with a rush and steadily increased his advantage to win with speed in reserve. OLD SHOE alternated in pressing and setting the early pace, failed to rally sufficiently to endanger the winner when set down for the drive, but was up in time to prevail over BROWN ADOBE. The latter showed excellent speed during the entire running, but was unable to withstand the top ones when called upon for his best effort. CURLY JOE raced evenly from the final turn without apparent mishap. ROUND TOP never threatened during the running and came back badly cut about the left front ankle. WISE QUE was through early. BLUE SKIES, forced to take up sharply when in close quarters at the head of the stretch, was unable to sufficiently recover. FREEDOM WON made up some ground through the late stages. BLACK RELIC failed to make up appreciable ground when hard ridden through the stretch. WAR FANTASY lacked the necessary rally. GOYAMO began sluggishly, was in close quarters on the far turn, then closed willingly when clear. LOST was through early. ICE SAVER and TORNABUONI were always outrun. WAREHOUSE was unable to keep up. HOPLITE, a sharp factor from the beginning while racing between horses, assumed a slight lead on the final, turn and in a long drive gamely withstood BLINKER LIGHT, though his rider was compelled to mete out punishment with his hand after losing his whip before the stretch run. BLINKER LIGHT came out for the stretch run and under stern punishment gradually was wearing down the top one. BANJOIST was forced to take the complete overland route when making his belated rally. BENHADAR was sent into closer contention after being straightened for the drive and closed with good courage. FLYING MANE worked her way forward on the outside to the stretch, but under pressure was not good enough. DEMOCLES moved up boldly when called upon during the late stages, then faltered when punished. FIRST WING lacked early speed. TIMUS quit. PEACE MISSION was unable to keep up.
