MURPHY Hodgins, Parke Busy Trainers Handlers Prep Stake Eligibles Contreras Father Rode in Chile ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, HI., June 23.— r Two of the busiest trainers at Arlington Park are the venerable Jack _ Hodgins, of Dixiana Farm, and Ivan Parke, who handles the F. W. Hooper thoroughbreds. Among Dixianas 27 campaigners are 16 unrated two - year - olds. ■ Seven of them are eligibles for the 45,000 Arlington Futurity on July 25— Celtic Spirit, Sundal School Far Famed, Roman Spy, Two Fisted, Golden Admiral and Great Threat. The latter belongs to Miss Mary V. Fisher, daughter of Charles. She, you may recall, came up with the capable Fulvous last year and twin victories in the Arlington Lassie and Princess Pat stakes. Other Dixiana juveniles in training here are Blue Hawaii, Whispered, Songlet, and one unnamed youngster. All are named for the 00,000 Lassie on July 15— the richest two-year-old filly race in the world. Parke has nine untried youngsters under his wing. Three of them — Sir Goya, Appliable and True Blenheim, are Futurity hopefuls. Two other Hooper hoper fuls, Delphis and an unnamed Heliopolis filly, are eligible for the Lassie. Frank "Jimmy" Kilroe is probably the most versatile racing secretary on the big circuit. He not only is a handy man with a handicapping chart, he is a short-story writer of note and will soon made his fourth television appearance on a Chicago station. George Krehbiel, veteran Detroit turf writer, came over from the Michigan City to see his runners, Golden Gem and Golden Mommy, perform Thursday. Should Royal Moccasin run in and win the Stars and Stripes Handicap, he would made the third "Royal" in succession to take it. Royal Governor was the winner two years ago, and Royal Mustang took it last season. Both will be in this years field . . .Henry Forrest, who came in to saddle Sherry L. in the Artful, departed for Detroit with the filly. . .Former owner Ace Fessenden is a proud parent, a son having been born to Mrs. Fessenden the other day . . .And Willie Fronk wishes it known that his latest grandchild is a boy and not a girl as at first reported. . .Royal Vale is due to arrive Monday. . .Closed Door and Armageddon, each of whom got third money in the divided Longfellow Handicap at Monmouth, are eligible for the Stars and Stripes. Jorge Contreras, who will ride Coffee Money in the Equipoise Mile, hails from Santiago, Chile, and his father was at one time leading rider of that country. He is a cousin of Ruperto Donoso, who was regarded as a good rider hereabouts a few years back... Paul Kelley has a promising apprentice here in Louis Williams, who accompanied the stable from New Jersey Pat B. Devereux got in from Detroit with Greatest, Gay Hunter, Greater, Gaylpn, Piparoo, and Simple Sis... Walter E. Keeley has advised the management, that Donna Jack and Hopes Baby, a couple of Hyde Park Stakes eligibles, will be flown here from New York Monday — Owner J. O. Spotswood, a Chicago man, got in and out of the racing business in a hurry. He bought Solicit from Mrs. W. J. Schmidt a few days, the gelding won a purse for him and was claimed by Duntreath Farm. It was the first time the Spotswood silks had been seen on any track. . .The veteran Joe Wagner will ride some horses for Paul Kelley at this meeting. Jockey William McKinley Cook has been engaged to ride Hats Fiddle in the Polly-anna Stakes. . .Kenneth G. Marshall, owner of Coffee Money, was an arrival from Birmingham, Ala., and will remain for the running of Saturdays Equipoise Mile... Fred R. Tuerk, owner of Adriana T., came from Miami to see the filly run on Fridays bill... The photo camera tower on the backstretch was blown down during Thursday mornings rain and windstrom... Trainer Elmer Kalensky has sent Set Shot, Predictor, and Prince Adaris to Crown Crest Farm to be rested up. . .Jockey Billie Fisk will arrive from Detroit Saturday and will be on hand for the remainder of the meeting. He is best known here as the rider of Sickles Image. His engagements will be made by Art Bronson.
