Cleveland Press Purse In Cranwood Spotlight Cockpit, Half Bar and Hab Set To Compete at Seven Furlongs By RONALD KRANCEK Staff Correspondent CRANWOOD PARK, Warrensyille Heights, Ohio, June 26.— The Cleveland Press Purse at seven furlongs headlines tomorrows well balanced nine-race program here at the Miles Road course. Racing secretary Freddy Burton has whipped tor gether several other very interesting races and a large crowd is expected to be on hand. The field for the feature will line-up in the following order: Stefan and Cashels Brass Hat, E. P. Lovelaces Half Bar, Mrs. Ronald E. Houses Bob o Nick, Mrs. Betty Kennedys Sign It, J. Bachrachs Rehearser, Mrs. A. Wolfes Colonel Barker, M. C. Pierces Nightingale, Bailey Stables Holly Mac, R! C. Watts Gentle Gal, Leo Eichlers Cockpit and H. A. Burns Hab. Cockpit, a good looking son of the great Whirlaway, won here the other afternoon when at a mile and one-sixteenth defeated Penny Singer by five lengths, winning very handily. In that race Cockpit disposed of Donald Young soon after the start and then just coasted to his hollow triumph. Before winning here at Cranwood he had two rather disappointing races, but he appears to have regained his Ascot form of last May and could make it two straight. He will-pick up 122 pounds tomorrow as compared with 121 wen he won over a route of ground. Half Bar, a five-year-old gelded son of Bar Hunter, finished third here last week when at seven furlongs lie finished two and one-half lengths in back of Locadah. The Loyelace colorbearer raced in a forward position throughout, but lacked a rally. At a mile and one-eighth on June 13 he was second to Country Editor arid if he could run back to that race would be hard to beat fn here. Half Bar won a race at Ascot Park on May 2 when he defeated Hundred Proof by a length over a route. Hab turned in an excellent effort here two weeks ago when ridden by Hedley Woodhouse. He beat As Ordered by two lengths racing forwardly placed from the beginning. The Royal Ford colt received a clever ride that afternoon and a great deal of credit must go to the rider for that vic tory. Hab is an also eligible in this event, but If he happens "to get in the race could be the winner.
