Six of the better three-year-olds quartered here are to clash in the one mile and 70 yards Mark Twain, while seven useful racers from the same age division will meet in the one mile Huntington Woods. Top supporting attractions of the half-holiday card are the Strathmore at three -quarters mile, which drew a clever field of eight seasoned sprinters, and the Lawndale, mile and one-half nightcap offering, matching eight of the quicker route performers on hand for the current Michigan Racing Association meeting. Nominees for Frontier The Mark Twain, spotted fifth on the week-end bill, undoubtedly will prove one of the more interesting middle - distance races of the season. Under the allowance terms of the twin-headliner, J. H. Miles White Cliff, R. A. Paracheks Gulf Stream, and Mrs. Daisy Sukundos William Tell are the equal high weights at 119 pounds. C. W. Reidingers homebred Jim Brier, 108; James Paddocks Tomi Blu, 113, and Barclay Stables Celtic Play, 111 pounds, complete the overnight Mark Twain field. Hallums Roll Bama, 116 pounds, narrowly beaten by Darkie in the recently-decided six-furlong Saginaw Bay Purse. Sukundo Stables Eli Cookie, 116, and Carlene Baileys One Swallow, 112 pounds, finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Saginaw Bay and the pair is to try Roll Bama again tomorrow. Mrs. M. W. Huckabys Mikeaby, 113, G and G Stables Alie-Ed, 116; C. H. Maynes Fearful Odds, 116; and Big Hearted from the Floyd and Collier barn, pegged at 116 pounds, round out the Huntington Woods band. Ralph Lowes Clear Day, who will have the veteran Joe Valenti at the reins, holds a royal chance to score his second straight triumph when he parades to the post in the Strathmore. Clear Days major opposition undoubtedly will be furnished by Henry Forrests Lonoke Flash and R. B. Walters Chic Wave while Mr. and Mrs. James R. Collins Biddy Bid rates an outside chance. Others entered in the secondary number are Mrs. H. Allen Campbells A-Pacopep, G and G Stables War Token, who worked impressively for the race; Saginaw Stables Badger, and Mrs. George C. Whites Speed o Light. Duntreath Farms Sails, G. Bills, Jr.s Galoot, Collins Stables Spy Ring, Carl M. Grahams Lancer, and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bartletts Nickleby, who finished in that order last week-end in a one mile and three furlongs condition race, hook up again tomorrow in the 12 furlongs Lawn-dale. Although the weather yesterday and early today was anything but ideal, clear skies are predicted for the week end and, given a break in overhead conditions, this near Detroit course will be host to another large crowd.
