Cant Please Tops Mayflower Line-Up Murlogg Homebred ViesWith Invading Terrebonne, Nine Others in Suffolk Downs Dash By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 26. — Murlogg Farms Cant Please, a bay son of Fighting Step — Oswellblessed, heads a field of 11 juveniles listed to contest the five and a half furlongs Mayflower Stakes, closing day feature at Suffolk Downs. A winner of the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes at Fair Grounds in New Orleans, Cant Please must pick up the top weight of 119 pounds for tomorrows 0,000 added event. Dick McLaughlin, leading rider of the current meeting, is scheduled to ride the colt and the Haverhill boys left hand should come into great prominence in the dash. In previous outings here, Cant Please has appeared to need a left-handed rider. One invader, Fortune P. Ryans Terrebonne, is in the Mayflower and the Super Duper — Grand Flight gelding comes well endorsed. His last start prior to shipping here was in the Juvenile Stakes at Belmont in which he displayed early speed, but wilted in the drive. In previous stakes engagements, Terrebonne was third in the Youthful and second to Everett Jr. in the Lafayette at Keeneland. Con Erricp is expected to arrive in the morning to handle the Ryan gelding in the Mayflower. G. S. Colellas Switch On has earned numerous supporters with his recent top flight form. Claimed for ,000, the son of Condiment — Tactic finished a bang-up second to Nirgal Lad in the Bay State Kindergarten Stakes, the only other two-year-old feature run at the Suffolk meeting. In a recent public appearance between races the chestnut gelding-shaded l.OO in handy fashion. Ted Johnson has been engaged to handle Switch On who picks up 116 pounds. Foster Sends Out Repelled Oscar L. Foster, the dean of New England horsemen, will be represented by Re-pelledj a speedy son of Depth Charge or Thorugh Bound — After Eight. Repelled has started only once in New England and gave a good account of himself despite finishing out of the money. The bay colt earned his graduation papers at Oaklawn Park this past spring and has been carefully prepped for tomorrows appearance. Jimmy Davern, contract rider for Foster, will be in the irons. Repelled is slated to carry 112 pounds. Mrs. Irving Gushen will seek the Mayflower honors with Cold Jack, a promising son of Coldstream — Teen Age, who is slated to carry 113 pounds, including jockey Harold "Red" Keene. Cold Jack has shown to his best since the dashes for two-year-olds have been extended beyond the half-mile distance and will be closing stoutly on any stragglers among tomorrows speedier youngsters. Cherry Oca Stables Helentar, 107: I. C. McMahans Joes Crestn, 108, a stablemate of Cant Please; Circle Bar Ranchs Marine Growth, 113; River Divide Farms First Ballot, 107; C on C Stables Squire Wilson, 116 and Copaul Stables Ace Var, 110 pounds, complete the field for the nineteenth running of the Mayflower. The Mayflower lost some of its lustre when it was announced that T. A. Sears Nirgaal Lad and Cali York Stables Bluie West were forced to pass up the race because of coughing.
