Monte Irvin Leads Attack As Giants Beat Cubs, 9-6 By the United Press Monte Irvin drove in four runs with a pair of doubles yesterday as the New York Giants beat the Chicago Cub 9 to 6 on 14 hits, for their sixth victory in eight games with the Cubs this season. Rookie Rueben Gomez, though he went only six and two-thirds innings, was credited with his fourth victory against three defeats. Hoyt Wilhelm worked the last two and one-third innings and held -the Cubs without a run. The Chicago starter, Bubba Church, was charged with his fourth defeat against four victories and needed relief from Turk Lown, Dutch Leonard and Sheldon Jones.
