DONQUEST, partial to the slow track and a sharp factor after the break, assumed command after entering the stretch and continued gamely to withstand CHALLAGUERRE. The latter drifted out at the final turn, swerving to the inside when set down through the stretch and was unable to overtake the top one. IRMAS JIM gave a sharp effort and had no mishap. REBATE, outrun to the stretch, suffered mild interference during the drive, but closed strongly. A foul claim against CHALLAGUERRE by REBATES rider was not allowed after the stewards checked the objection against the film patrol. SO FAIR saved ground and made a good bid in the early stretch, then faltered. SEDGEGOOD began fast, but dropped back soon after the start. JACFER began sluggishly. CONDILIDA was outrun. MASTERSON disliked the slow track. VAPARENA was through early. TINAJA A. began fast, set the pace to the stretch while engaging MEYERSDALE, then gave way. BUBBLE GUM, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track for the drive and, closing gamely, wore down the leaders and was up in the last strides, but pulled up quite lame. CAPRICORNIO moved up boldly entering the stretch, reached the lead between calls near the finish, but could not withstand the-winner. LEAVEMEALONE could not better her position when set down through the stretch. BOSTON HERO gave a good effort and had no mishap. LOTOFTOWN tired during the stretch run. MISS ZILT went to the front early, bore out badly while setting the pace to the stretch, then tired badly. EPERC began alertly, but failed to keep up. ZOOM was outrun. CONQUERANT, a sharp factor from the beginning, took command when settling in the stretch, then gave way under pressure. MARY LIKE was through early. SMART EVE disliked the slow track. Won driving; second and third the same. SUNNYBROOK SUE gradually worked way forward, responded to punishment during the stretch run and disposed of ASCENT in the last strides. ASCENT took an early lead, entered the stretch with a clear advantage and held on gamely, but was -not good enough for the top one, although much the best of the others. GINNY-SANDY lacked early speed, but passed tired horses during the last quarter mile. TRIPLE FLIGHT was unable to reach the leaders when set down through the stretch. LETS THINK could not keep up. OUR SUSAN disliked the slow track. NOSE DIVE was never dangerous. SPEEDY JET tired after forcing ASCENTS pace to the stretch. RENO RED was through early. STRICT disliked the slow track.
