Field Horses to Fore In River Downs Sprints Extravaganza Makes Winning Bow And Grand Spice Gets MaidenTally RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio., June 26. — The field horses were having a day of it in the early races at River Downs today, as two winners of the first three races were grouped in the mutuel field of four horses, necessitated by the standard "tote" here, which has nine mutuel numbers in the setup. Keene Gurnees first-time starter, Extra-vaganze, showed that he had learned his lessons well, as the son of Super Duper sped home by one length in his first start, against three-year-olds maidens. Gil Roser handled the gelding, who was grouped in the field with three others and the bargain ticket was worth 4.80. The successful combination of trainer George Osborne and his contract apprentice, William Hubbard, stopped the field in the second event as Hubbard duplicated his win with Bustacle in their las touting. Bus-tacle was held a trifle shorter in the wagering today and paid .60. It was win number seven for rider and trainer, and moved Osborne into a tie for top honors among thee onditioners at the track. Miss Sigh salvaked something for the field animals, paying .20 for her place effort. Those in thee rowd of 3,821 who distinguished Ex-travaganze and Bustacle from the other combinations in the Daily Double received 85.80 for their perception. Grand Spice again picked up the banner for the field horses in the third race, for two-year-old maidens, and galloped, to a hollow seven and a half lengths victory while touring the five furlongs in 1:00%, which is just off the best time of the meeting. The Grand Admiral — Spicy Dish filly looked yery impressive under Luis Riveras guidance and paid .20 for her maiden triumph.
