Increased Mutuel Take In Effect in Michigan State Now Gets Half of Total 12 Per Cent in Running Races LANSING, Mich., June 26.— Michigan horse race bettors today will find their pari-mutuel winnings trimmed slightly under -a new legislative act signed by Governor G. Mermen Williams. The measure, which becomes effective immediately, takes 12 per cent of money bet on running races and 13 per cent of moeny wagered on harnessraces out of the share divided among winning players. Until today, the amount deducted from pari-mutual pools was 11 per cent. The states share is increased from 5 to 6 per cent of money bet on running races and 4 instead of 2 per cent on harness races. The share of money kept by track operators from pari-mutuel pools remains unchanged. As a result of the larger take from pari-mutuel betting pools, the state expects to increase its racing revenues ,500,000 annually. James H. Inglis, Mighican state racing commissioner, was against the increased mutuel bite and had recommended that the take be left at 11 per cent. Inglis* recommendation, however, was over-ruled and the state now has become an equal partner in the operation of Wolverine state running ,race tracks, sans any investment whatsoever.
