WARDONNA, a sharp factor from the start, took command when ready after three furlongs and after assuming a commanding advantage leaving the final turn held sway thereafter under intermittent urging. TUSCANIA, always within striking distance, came out for the drive, but was not good enough. SANCTUARY, outrun early, lacked the necessary rally. SIR SIDNEY raced evenly through the final furlong without mishap. THRUST failed to stay. BROOKSHIRE was unable to attain the lead and tired. KNIGHTS HILL began sluggishly. The latter moved up menacingly on the inside leaving the near turn, was unable to overtake the leader during the drive, but lasted to prevail over COTTAGE FLAME. Won driving; second and third the same. SICKLE ROSE, never far back, came fast when shaken for the stretch run and was along in the concluding strides to outgame PIEDMONT BELLE. The latter forged to the front entering the stretch, then held on determinedly in a sharp effort. MRS. CAESAR displayed good speed throughout, but was unable to reach the leaders when hard ridden through the final furlong. FERIA failed to make up appreciable ground. OUR VALDINA passed tiring horses. FACET tired. BERMUDA LILY and BIG CAMELIA never were formidable. TILL WE MEET was always outrun. GALLANT FANAR retired steadily from a rapid start. Overweight— Piedmont Beile, 1 pound. GLORIOUS EMMA made up some ground during the late stages. CABLE BUG tired. FLYING TUCK failed to stay. KADER retired steadily from a rapid start. LA FORTUNA, forced to take up slightly when in close quarters during the run down the back-stretch, recovered readily to retain a contending position, then faltered when punished.
