Beulahs Final Saturday Feature Attracts Seven The Swan at Six Furlongs Draws JrJre!and,RuseJoellen,LittleBing By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 28. — With the present weather conditions, which have included rain, a light drizzle and general cloudiness, the track for tomorrow, the eighteenth day of this nineteen-day meeting, will be "off." However, the nine-race program for the final Saturday shapes up as an* extremely interesting group of events and racing.§ecretary and handicapper Eugene W. Bury has titled the feature affair, The -Swan. In this feature attraction, a six-furlong dash for four-year-olds and older horses under allowance conditions, there are but seven to vie for a part of the ,200 purse and a coupling is included to make but six betting interests. Charles Deans Jr. Ireland appears the one to beat in this group. The five-year-old. Dispose gelding will be out for his third consecutive victory. In his last race, he romped to a two and one-quarter length advantage at the wire over the Wade brothers Marcy N. in the Deshler Hilton Hotel Purse. His time for the six furlongs was 1:11% over the lightning-fast strip and was the best time for that distance until E. L. Browns Cross End ran the six panels in 1:111 last Thursday. --To show his versatility so far as track conditions are concerned, Jr. Irleland was four lengths the best, of H. Fishers College in the feature offering on May 11 when the racing strip was very heavy. A A dull 1;16% was the time for the event, but jockey Guillermo Silva, his usual pilot, had little or no difficulty in securing the laurels. R. J. Hamons Ruse, M. K. Essigs Little Bing and J. Madleners Gilded Right were second, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the Carollos Purse, the feature offering here last Tuesday. Ruse, a Tiger gelding, was beaten but a head by Brookhaven, a fleet-footed Brook-field colt, and was getting to him in the final stages. Jackey L.A. Pierce, who has ridden him in his previous efforts this year, which include three wins, two seconds and one third in ten starts, will again have a leg up and the pair could be troublesome. Others to match strides include R. J. Hamons Joellen, which, while moving up the ladder some, has turned in two consecutive victories, and the Simmons and Finn coupling of Blue counsellor and Luciete. Blue Counselor won the last time out. A. dull,, dismal, overcast day greeted the fans on hand for todays program. In fact, the cycle of inclement weather went from a. light drizzle through a strong rain but neither lasted very long and the track was not affected. However, the weather did cause the attendance to be somewhat smaller than in the past but it was estimated j that about 4,000 were on hand. | Those here for the day found two deadr-heats being registered in the first three, races on the card. In the second half of the Daily Double the second event,- S. URens Sweet Grace and Merle Roberts Miss Corrall reached, the jwire on even terms for show money. D. Volpes Halvers was the winner and coupled with Mr. and Mrs. Conners Petroplay as a 9-8 combination the Double was worth 9.00. In the third race E. M. Cowans Quick Payoff and F. M, Ashbys Rusty Chain were at the wire simultaneously for place money. Froome Barbours. Anneke Jans graduated from the maiden ranks in this event to be three-quarters of a length the best of the pair. Making it a front-running victory all the way, apprentice R. Cassidy .sent the BulL Brier filly the six furlongs in 1:14% and comparatively overlooked in the wagering paid$ 19.00 for the usual
