Lasting Treats Late Rush Spells Victory at Suffolk SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 28. — J. H. Carrs Lasting Treat closed with a flourish to annex the featured Woburn Purse here today, turning back challenges by Noble Try and the favored Lassie Lea, who finished second and third. Aided by a strong ride from Tony DeSpirito* who notched a double with the triumph, Lasting Treat accomplished the six furlongs in 1:11% and paid 3.00. Terry S. was the early leader in this three-year-old event, bolting from the gate on the outside and cutting to the rail at the five-furlong pole. The W. J. Beattie gelding was the pacemaker for most of the hace, relinquishing the lead only in the final furlong to the eventual winner and fading to fourth. Lasting Treat was held off the pace by DeSpirito, dropped back to fifth for a brief period at the half-mile marker, made his move at the head of the stretch and won by a length and three-quarters. Noble Try and Lassie Lea responded to a late call and sped past the tiring Terry S. in the final sixteenth although unable to reach the winner. The skies were clear bulf it was a m«ggy afternoon .for the 9,059 in attendance v „ "Pauline Gross and*Ari Gold combined for a Daily Double payment of 40.20.
