SUPPRESSOR set the pace under good rating and withstood the extended challenge of JERSEY DEVIL. The latter was always formidable and lacked the necessary late response. HERE ME closed fastest after being slow to respond to urging. DOCTOR DICK held a favorable position, but was without a rallv. HAPPY RHYTHM raced evenly. JAZERANT was with the leader until the furlong pole and faltered. HIGH TRAFFIC broke slowly. LOYAL SIR had little chance with the start. ON DUTY quit, as did STRAIGHT ARGO. The latter was under hustling tactics to attain the advantage along the backstretch, was not threatened until the final yards and gave way to his stablemate. MAY SURPRISE was formidable into the stretch and faltered. DECEMBER KING, in front briefly, flattened out. badly through the final quarter. RIDGE ECHO quit. INNESKILLEN showed nothing. ROCK COTTAGE, a distant trailer for more than a half mile, circled the field with a rush and wore down GALLITO. The latter held a menacing position behind the dueling leaders, responded readily but proved no match for the winner. Passmores claim of foul against the winner for alleged interference during the stretch run was disallowed. AIR COLONEL alternated in setting and pressing the pace, drew clear after shaking off ONE THROW, then faltered through the stretch. ONE THROW dueled for command for about five furlongs and faltered.
