Start good. Won ridden out; second and third driving. ROCKY RIDGE, slow to attain best stride, came to the outside of the leaders to take command -when ready leaving the final turn and continued on gamely thereafter under intermittent urging. OUR FRANCINE •worked her way forward to the stretch, responded readily when set down for the drive and closed with good energy. THRUST, much used engaging for the early advantage, had little left when the real test came. GREAT ARTURO tired. SAM PARK, far back early, rallied mildly to finish on even terms with LANGHOLM. The latter saved ground to no avail. LAST FLING was through after six furlongs. SHANNON SOUND and PERICLEAN were outrun. MONTAUK retired steadily after flashing brief speed. DANDY DAN, always within striking distance of the leaders, slipped through next to the inner rail to gain closer contention entering the stretch, responded to adept handling during the drive and was up in the final stride to gain the nod. SANFOIN moved up with a rush * between horses to attain the lead between calls during the stretch trun, then held on determinedly, just missing. STEVIES PAL reached near even terms for the lead, at the furlong marker, but faltered when placed to brisk urging. BOOTLET rallied too belatedly to become an endangering factor. NO CONTEST tired.
