McCarthy Buys a Winner Neil McCarthy of California early last August bought a horse from the Irish " sportsman, Joe McGrath. A week or so later, at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, the your-year-old bay son of Nasrullah and Nova Puppis, named Novarullah, proved the American an astute judge of horseflesh by winning the Bruton Handicap. Speeding over the seven furlongs in 1:32% under 120 pounds, Novarullah won "on the bit" by one and one-half lengths as the 7-to-2 favorite.
