BABCHA, alertly handled, took command soon after the start, settled in the stretch with a short lead, but was briskly handled thereafter to increase the advantage. CAROLYN L. moved up fast nearing the stretch, was unable to overtake the top one, but was easily best of the others. MOTORAMIC drifted out entering the stretch and could not get to the leaders. LORD MARMION lacked early speed, but finished fairly well under punishment. LAURA DONNA began fast, dropped back after the break and failed to rally when set down through the stretch. RESSA BOB raced wide during the last quarter mile. FLEET CHIEF began slowly. BELBOOTS had a rough race. ROCKETS AWAY was through early. WHY STEP, taken up when caught in tight quarters after the break, failed to. recover. MELLOW MISS could not keep up. ALLFOREVER bore out badly entering the stretch and lost all chance. BEAUTIFUL JANE, alertly ridden, took command at once, raced BOOKMOBILE into defeat during the stretch run, then held LOCO safe. The latter, never far back, closed determinely under urging, but was unable to reach the top one. VALAIRE raced evenly for a half mile, made a mild bid entering the stretch, but could not overtake LOCO. BOOKMOBILE raced well to the final furlong, then faltered. TIPOQUILL raced evenly without mishap. BUY BOOKIE was outrun. GALLAGASKIN was never dangerous. SHILLELAH MIKE had no mishap. FOREVER MORE lacked early speed and was never prominent. BISMARK showed nothing. BOLO FLYER had brief sped, but failed to stay. PRINCESS JANET began sluggishly. BEADAH took an early lead, settled in the stretch with a good advantage, but was hard ridden thereafter to withstand ON STANLEY ON. The latter, away alertly, was crowded back after the start, made up ground steadily when clear, but could not overtake the top one. VAULTS RATION gave a good performance and had no mishap. SUMMER BLUES faltered when set down through the stretch. BARRINGTON was outrun and had no mishap. LITTLE VAN could not keep up FLYING REDBIRD tired. SPECIAL CHOICE had a rough trip. FIGHTING WHIZ was off in motion, was hustled along early, drew into a clear lead on the turn and stalled off THE PRINCE under strong handling The latter was a sharp factor from the beginning, responded to rousing in midstretch while cutting to the rail to find clear racing room and was not far away in a good effort. WAREHOUSEMAN made up ground belatedly after being outrun early. JUST BARBARA hung. GOOD TIMES, outrun early, was on the outside much of the way and failed to rally. STAR ACTOR was through early. T5EBETTE always was within striking distance, responded when roused in the drive and finished well. CURTAIN RAISER was on the outside on the turn and loomed up boldly an eighth out but hung in the final strides. PEARL DIVER, badly outrun early, came wide entering the stretch and, although unable to menace the leaders, finished fairly well. KENTUCKY KID had speed but was under sustained pressure from the beginning and gave way in the final sixteenth. GRAY DESERT was done when real racing began. ETERNAL SHOCK could not keep up. WEEP AND WAIL steadily worked way forward to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and, responding to good handling, disposed of AIRPE and held FARCUERETTE safe. The latter raced evenly for a half mile, was sent between horses through the stretch and finished strongly, but could not get to the winner. RED SULTAN gave a good effort and had no excuse. AIRPE began fast, made the pace to the final furlong, then faltered when challenged by WEEP AND WAIL. BEE LEE TEE raced wide entering the stretch. YOU SAY began slowly. SIR COUNTRY showed little. FACES EAST, well placed from the start, went to the front approaching the stretch, responded to strong handling and won going away. XAPATTER, reserved while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, closed willingly under punishment but could not reach the top one, although easily best of the others. BOLING POLLY lacked early foot but finished fairly well under brisk urging. SUN DIVER gave a fair effort and had no mishap. BUNKER had a rough trip through the stretch. VINITA TONEY began fast, set the pace for five-eighths mile but gave way when challenged by FACES EAST. BOGAN, outrun early, was crowded during the drive and, taken up, failed to recover.
