Beadah Earns Diploma at Churchill Djeddah Filly Has Length Advantage Defeats On Stanley On and Vaults Ration in Sprint; Babcha Takes Opening Dash By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 2. — Beadah, a well-conformed homebred filly, the get of Djeddah and Beauty Spot, by Bull Dog, carried Mrs. Otto C. Neumanns silks to a well-deserved graduation victory here this summerlike afternoon in the Chestnut Purse, one of the better races on a mediocre card. Sent to the front by jockey Dave Erb soon after the start of the four and one-half furlongs juvenile dash, the Neumann miss reached, the wire~ with a length advantage over her nearest rival, Denis J. Gleesons On Stanley On. Charles H. Everitts Vaults Ration ran third a half length off On Stanley On., and two and one-half lengths before Thomas Piatts Summer Blues. Beadah, making her third appearance under colors, shculdered 115 pounds and stepped along over the fast track in :54%. She was fairly well supported at 4-to-l by the crowd -of approximately 8,500 on hand for the second program of the current Downs spring season. Adams Scores With Filly James Paddocks locally owned Babcha, a quick Psychic Bid filly, gave a good performance under jockey Johnny Adams, beating a capacity field of youngsters in ; the four and one-half furlongs opener. Babcha beat, Warner L. Jones, Jr.s, Carolyn L. by a length and three-quarters, while Emil Denemarks Motoramic was along for third, after he had drifted out at the stretch turn. Gleeson Stables Lord Mar-mion saved fourth money. Babcha, who hadnt been out since the New Orleans season, was favored at 9-tp-5. The Paddock youngster completed her winning jaunt in :53%. Clay W. Smiths Beautiful Vine, han-, died by jockey H. Jordan, graduated from . the maiden ranks, trimming 11 ordinary ! rivals in the three-quarters of a mile Wal-1 nut Purse. Beautiful Vine went to the top 1 at the break and hit the wire a length and 1 one-half on Harry L. Freyns Loco. Mrs. ~ Herbert Herffs Memphis-owned Valaire J finished third. 1 Beautiful Vine, clocked in 1:12%, was a rank outsider in the betting, returning an 7.40 mutuel. The Daily Double pay-off 1 on Smith filly and Babcha was 43.00.
