; . ! 1 1 ~ J 1 1 : : , ; : , • i 1 I : t • . . — Green Rides Both Ends Of 1 .20 Daily Double Winners Wear Identical No. 3s; Seven in Todays Dogwood Purse By J. K. BATTY Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 2. — Jockey Floyd Green, riding horses in the first and second races with identical saddlecloth numbers, piloted the winners in both ends of the Daily Double combination here today." Breaking from the No. 3 slot in the first race, Green came home in front with Jet Fireball and, out of the same stall position in the following race, guided Graldu to victory. The Daily Double payoff on Jet Fireball and Graldu was 1.20. The former, owned by J. F. Edwards, returned .40 at the straight windows and Graldu paid .20. The next two races on the program were captured by outsiders. With an estimated throng of 4,500 looking on, apprentice Jean Trochet drove home Earl Sharrads Little Zac in the third race. The winner, an eight-year-old gelded son of Zacaweista, produced a 5 straight payoff. Apprentice Thomas Lattarulo guided his first winning mount of the meeting since arriving here last week from the New England circuit when he succeeded with Jimmy Thornburgs Big Flight in the fourth race. Coming to the end of seven furlongs with a length to spare over, her nearest foe, Big Flight was lightly regarded by the fans, and paid 4.60. Best race on the card here Tuesday is the seventh. Under allowance conditions, seven horses, representing six wagering interests because of a coupling, are entered to meet at seven furlongs. This sprint is titled the Dogwood Purse and, at this time, benefited by rains and warm sunshine last week, the Dogwood trees are blossomed to the height of their beauty. Going postward to settle the issue for a purse of ,500 will be Dotty N, Colonel Barker, Adventure EL, Pipetime, Play Re- quest and the entry of Texas Coin and Living Doll, owned by Mrs. P. Priddy and M. L. Cohen, respectively. Play Request made his debut here last Thursday and displayed a distinct dislike for the "slow" footing. He won -three races at Lincoln Downs prior to arriving here and, if the strip remains fast, figures a dangerous contender.
