Garden States Racing Resumes Resilient in Todays Main Event; Expect Boston Doge To Start in Week-End Stake By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J.. May 2. — Racing resumes after the lone "dark" Monday at this course with a field of nine named to compete in the Frank -ford Purse that features the second program of this meeting on Tuesday. The feature is for four-year-olds and up and will be decided at one mile and a sixteenth. Heading the field of middle distance racers is Killian Farms stakes-winning Resilient, who passed up Saturdays Valley Forge Handicap. Chief competition may come from King Ranchs Black Bounty, Mrs. William Snells Biloxi and George S. Howells Punkin Vine, the latter pair running as an entry. The feature this Saturday at the Camden plant is the second running of the 5,000 added Delaware Valley Stakes. This fixture is restricted to three-year -olds and the distance is at six furlongs. Suffered First Loss in Swift Paul Andolinos Boston Doge is expected to be the big gun" in the Delaware Valley despite his defeat in the seven-furlong Swift Stakes last Saturday. The New England-owned sophomore ran a perfect skein of 10 victories before being stopped in his 11th attempt by Nances Lad and he still must be accorded the sprint honors in his division up to this time. If Boston Doge accepts the challenge the allowance conditions will call for him to carry a high impost of 124 pounds. Breckenridge Longs Westward Ho. who was somewhat of a sprint sensation earlier this spring in Maryland, was shipped in by trainer Frank A. Bonsai over the week end to engage in the Delaware Valley. The three-year-old Lochinvar colt won two races before he met defeat at the hands of Boston Doge in the Governors Gold Cup. finishing third and beaten three lengths in that event. He returned to an easy triumph in his last start which was at Laurel on April 20. Westward Ho started only twice as a juvenile and he won both races. Montpeliers Tiberian also was a weekend arrival. This son of Roman and Stane Street is a stablemate of the highly regarded Saratoga and he has some good efforts to his credit. One of the more dangerous competitors in the Delaware Valley would appear to be Brookmeade Stables Sailor, who won the recent Toboggan Handicap at Belmont Park. The Eighty Thirty colt was but one second off the track and worlds record for six furlongs. Other aspirants who would be very much in the hunt are Ella K. Brysons Kinda Smart, Eugene Constantin Jr.s, Ambers Folly. Jan Burkes Dedicate, and Mrs. Ada L. Rices Heavenly Days, who was impressive in a victory here opening day.
