jOpening Threatened, Harness Horsemen, Hazel in Stalemate DETROIT, Mich., May 2.— With opening night only a week away, harness horses are pouring into Hazel Park Harness Raceway, even though track officials and the Michigan Harness Horsemens Association are stalemated over purses.. The 36-night meeting is scheduled to open May 9, but unless an agreement is reached by Thursday, the opening may be delayed. MHHA officers have notified the track and the United States Trotting Association of the deadlock and threaten to withhold entries unless their demands are met. Under USTA rules, a 72-hour notice of a strike must be made. This means that entries for next Mondays races must be in the box by 10 a. m. Thursday to be eligible. The horsemen are asking 40 per cent of the tracks share of the mutuel handle and a minimum purse of ,000. Last year purses amounted to 35 per cent and the minimum was00. 1 v v
