CAMPESINO followed the early pace closely and, gaining gradually on ROAMING OSCAR in the stretch, got up to win in the final strides. ROAMING OSCAR dashed to the front soon after the start to open up a good lead and, saving ground in the stretch, just failed to last. ULTIMATUM was outrun for a half mile, then came steadily. CUPOLA CAST weakened. AHSA BEAUTY began slowly. LANKY JOHN was off slowly and was in rather tight quarters while trying to save ground. The latter made a good move to get to the front at about the half-way mark and open up, but weakened in the final drive. FIDDLIN MAC held MAGIC MOTION in the drive. The latter went evenly. FEB raced close to the pace while saving ground, and forging to the front on the inside entering the stretch, drew out nearing the end. ANGELS DOLL raced wide on the turns and weakened in the final drive. SIXTY TWO failed to be a serious threat, althouoh finishing fairly well. BOBS CASH made up some ground. PORTAGE BOY moved up strongly when ready after going half the distance and, taking a clear advantage in the stretch, was not menaced by ANDREW J. in the last sixteenth, although hustled along. The latter saved ground from the start, and was clearly best of the others. SKIPPYS FIRST raced forwardly placed, but was inclined to go wide. RICKEY RAY finished well SPRINGLIKE and PAPAGAYO had early speed. ROBERT E. W. AND QUITURWURY COLLIDED EN ROUTE TO THE POST, INJURING THEIR RIDERS AND WERE ORDERED WITHDRAWN BY THE VETERINARIAN. The latter was always well up and made a good bid in the stretch. PRACTICAL raced wide but was up in the last stride to catch TANBARK.
