Diving Board Works Five-Eighths in :59| Drills Handily on Belmont Main Strip; Policeman Day Goes Mile BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 10. — Stakes candidates were confined to easy gallops on both tracks here this morning, with the exception of the youngsters who blew out for Wednesdays Juvenile. However. Montpeliers crack steeplechaser, Shipboard, indicated that he will be seen under silks before long when he breezed five furlongs in l:#f% on the training track. Maine Chance Farms Myrtles Jet stepped a handy five furlongs in 1:01 on the main track. Greentree Stables Diving Board, who was not quite a stake horse last year, flashed five panels in :59% in handy style on the main track. He seems ready for a good race. Hasty House Farms recent importation, Oriental Spring, who is in the care of George Odom pending early shipment to Chicago, breezed five-eighths in 1:03% on the main track this morning. He is a handsome individual of considerable scope. Walter M. Jeffords Policeman Day, a Withers candidate who was reported inclined to sulk in his Maryland races, turned in a handy mile in 1:41 on the main track, while Rokeby Stables Hush Hall, who is pointing for a turf course race, was clocked in 1:4325. Over at Aqueduct, Wheatley Stables High Voltage, impressive winner of the Acorn Stakes last week, sped six furlongs in 1:13. The 1954 filly champion, who just came to herself a few days before the Acorn, is shipping to Pimlico for Saturdays Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at a mile and a sixteenth. Ted Atkinson is expected to go along to ride as Eddie Arcaro has an engagement on High Gun in the Metropolitan. Belair Studs Nashua showed no signs of wear and tear after his hard race behind Swaps in the Kentucky Derby when he galloped a mile this morning.
