ELR0SE, sluggish at the start, improved his position on the outside to the stretch, came fast when set down for the drive and, after taking command, wen going away. VELVET held sway to the furlong marker under clever rating, faltered when subjected to brisk urging and was unable to cope with the top one. COSMOS, far back early, closed with a belated burst of soeed in a sharp effort. PRIZE RING finished with good courage. SIR SIDNEY moved up menacingly entering the stretch, then weakened. SILURIAN tired. SIR ANHUT MB outrun. BUBBLING GOLD was unable to keep up. FIGHTING WISE and the others never were dangerous. PHOEBES GIRL, never far back, forged to the front entering the stretch and under adept handling held GOLDEN ZIPPER safe. The latter, slow to attain best stride, moved into the runner-up position nearing the furlong marker, but was unable to overtake the winner when hard hustled through the late strides. BERNO displayed good speed throughout and he!d on willingly in a sharp effort. CORNY MISS finished "with good energy. TRIGAZA rallied too belatedly to seriously endanger the top ones. VERACITY made a game bid entering the stretch, then weakened. DALLIANCE tired. LADY STRIDE failed to stay. HELLO RITA dropped from contention soon after the start. MERLEE was unable to keep up. SUPERGA retired steadily after flashing brief speed. MARGARET M., fractious at the post, never was dangerous. DUCK CALL and HY-MAE began alertly, then faded. INDIAN FIRE, always within striking dinstance, came to the extreme outside to attain a slight lead after completing the final hedge, lugged in steadily during the stretch run, but responded readily when straightened and. under good handling, outgamed ETERNAL SON. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of ETERNAL SON for alleged interference during the stretch run was not allowed. ETERNAL SON, a sharp factor from the start, relinquished the lead to the winner entering the stretch, drifted in when placed to pressure during the drive and as a result was unable to regain command. XAPCOURT, much used during the early running, had little left. MARTINGLE moved up menacingly en the far turn, then weakened. REBEL COAT was always outrun. MONTEVIDEO was unable to keep up. RUNNING WOLF reached the lead between calls approaching the stretch, faltered when challenged and was unable to withstand the top one. ALAN K. lacked the necessary rally.
