Total of 556 Horses In Good Time Stakes Scott Frost Early Favorite for Hambletonian Set for August 3 GOSHEN, N. Y., May 10— A record total of 556 horses. 42 more than last year, is assured for the 00,000 five-day meeting opening August 1 at Good Time Park here, William H. Crane announced. The 30th Hambletonian. with 68 crack three-year-olds eligible, tops the list of 22 stake entries for the annual Grand Circuit sulky session. The 5,000 Hambletonian on August 3 now has both an outstanding star in Scott Frost, an an equally watched dark one in Newport Mon. The former, first juvenile trotter to race a mile in two mintes, is early favorite for the Hambletonian. Also by Hoot Mon, who holds the record for the stake set at 2:00 in 1947, is Newport Mon. He is owned by Octave Blake, Grand Circuit prexy, and trained by Del Cameron, who won their first Hambletonian last year with Newport Dream. The 0,000 Breeders filly stake for two-year-old pacers drew the second heaviest stake entry here, with 67 just paid up. The Tompkins Memorial, with 56 juvenile trotters entered, is the preview to the Hambletonian that Galophone won last year with season record-holding Bill Haughton driving. As Newport Dream won the Tompkins Memorial in 1953 and the Hambletonian last year, Galophone, sired by Bill Gallon, 1941 Hambletonian victor, is strongly touted also to win two years running at Good Time Park.
