Black-Eyed Susan | May Engage Dozen Pimlicos Week-End Stake Could Bring High Voltage And Blue Sparkler Together | PIMLICO, Baltimore. Md.. May 10.— The 0,000 added Black-Eyed Susan, feature of this Saturdays racing at the Maryland Jockey Club course, seems destined to at-tract the finest field of three-year-old fillies to compete this year. Of the original 54 nominees for the mile and one-sixteenth event, a field of about a dozen lassies seems . likely to parade postward, including Wheatley Stables 1954 juvenile filly champion, High Voltage, and Cain Hoy Stable"s Kentucky Oaks winner. Lalun. High Voltage assured her present fitness in her most recent endeavor when she van- ! quished a field of her age and sex in the I Acorn Stakes at Eelmont Park. She made j a single appearance in Maryland last fall and accounted for Laurels rich Selima Stakes. List Definite Starters According to J. Fred Colwill, Pimlico racing secretary, word has been received that the following will be definite starters in the Black -Eyed Susan: Alfred G. Vander-bilts Sometime Thing, second to High Vol-age in the Acorn; Pin Oak Farms Bless Pat. Woodland Faims Blue Sparkler, Reginald N. Websters Sorceress, Howell E. Jacksons Villa, Hugh A. Grants Miss Gusher and Rckeby Stables Blue Banner. Blue Sparkler, one of the best New Jer-sey-breds of recent seasons, was a late development last "ason, thus never had the opportunity of meeting High Voltage. Should these two hook up in the Black -Eyed Susan they would offer an excellent attraction. Blue Sparkler won her recent seasonal bow at Garden State with six furlongs in 1:11% over male rivals.
