► Helioscope Completes Mile Camden Work in 1:37 Vs GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 10.— William G. Helis, Jr.s, Helioscope continued to display excellent speed in workouts here today when he turned in the best move of the morning with a handy mile in 1:37 M. The big bay colt went along at a fast clip all of the way, going the first quarter in :23-,-,, the half mile in :4T*-, and the six furlongs in a rapid 1:11*5. The four - year - old son of Heliopolis was jus,t yesterday assigned a co-high-weight of 130 pounds with King Ranchs champion sophomore of last year, High Gun, for the Metropolitan mile this coming Saturday. Racing -secretary Jimmy Kilroe is asking Helioscope to concede two pounds to C. V. Whitneys Fisherman, who yesterday worked a mile in 1:41 over the Belmont Park strip, and the same to Social Outcast. Trainer Howard Hausner has not committed Helioscope to start in the Metropolitan and his next engagement may instead be the Massachusetts Handicap at Suffolk Downs on Thursday, May 19. He also has the Camden Handicap here on May 21. Social Outcast and Fisherman defeated Helioscope with a pull in weights in the Campbell Memorial this spring at Bowie. The Helis racer then carried 130 to 119 on Joe Jones in the Valley Forge here and he established a mile and seventy yard track record of 1 :40:t- on Saturday, April 30. Last Friday he also showed a holding of his excellent form when he spun off a handy five furlongs in :59,5.
