TACARO, close to the early pace, attained command nearing the stretch and withstood the late challenge cf GANYMEDE II. The latter, uncer restraint while saving ground and following the pace closely, was taken outside for his late bid and was not good enough. IRRITATE made up ground from far back without menacing the top pair. LITTLE GREG moved menacingly along the backstretch, continued his rally to the stretch and lacked further response. CLASSY CHANCE was never a threat, nor was IN THE MARKET. SHASTA L. set the pace while hard held and flattened out through the stretch. DILLY WHILLY showed notbir.o. The latter, unhurried early, was steadied briefly while starting his rally, then hung after reaching the leader. FLAG OFFICER lacked the needed response after having been within easy striking distance. DRIVING attained a clear lead on the final turn and faltered in the drive. ELBERWHIRL, a factor along the inside early, was taken up when unable to keep pace going into the turn, came again to wrest command, then swerved slightly to the outside nearing the finish. PARTICOLOR was with the pace throughout, attained a slight lead in the early stretch and failed to retain the advantage. Erricos claim of foul against the winner for alleged bumping nearing the finish was disallowed. BUSHERS BEAM failed to rally sufficiently through the stretch. HANGOVER drew clear on the turn and faltered.
