A speed horse breaking from an inside post may have a decided edge on his rivals while -an outside post could be distinctly disadvantageous to the same horse. It, didnt bother Clyde Van Dusen in the-1929 running of the Kentucky [Derby, however, H. P. Gardners gelding breaking from the number 20 post, reached the front before going a half mile and never was headed thereafter to win by two lengths.
