Each Owner Pays ,600 To Have Derby Starter LOUISyilXE," Ky., May 2.— It costs an owner ,600 to send a horse to the post in the Kentucky Derby. Subscriptions to the race, due last February 15, were 00 each. A payment of 50 must be made to pass the entry box and ,258 addl-tional to start. The fees were increased with the 1955 running, when the purse was raised from 00,000 to • 25,000 added. Previously, nomination fees were 0, with; a 50 fee for passing the entry box and 50 additional to start for a total cost of ,050. The nominating fee for the first Kentucky Derby back in 1875 was 0.
