LEONIE held a forward position from the start and, getting through on the inside of TRENT in the stretch, wore down the latter to win going away. TRENT caught GOLD CLASP after going a short distance and set most of the pace, but raced wide on the stretch turn and tired in the run home. COTTINGHAM made up ground to close well. SPEEDY RETURN was permitted to drop too far back of the leaders in the early running, raced very wide while making his move in the stretch and suffered some interference. PRINCE TIDE was prominent to the stretch, then tired. BEAU THOR, in close quarters nearing the far turn, was used up reaching a contending position. GOLD CLASP quit badly as if he disliked the going. SONNYCONARD, breaking quickly from the inside position, was hustled along to withstand an early challenge from PRIDE AND JOY and held IRON HILLS at the finish. IRON HILLS was in close quarters early, but came fast on the inside in the stretch. GOLD COLOR dropped back early and closed much ground. PRIDE AND JOY was carried wide on the stretch turn and tired. CANTRIP lacked the speed to keep up with the early leaders, but came to the outside in the stretch to wear down DEER FLY and won under mild urging. BAHAMAS was in close quarters early, but saved ground and was going strongly at the end. DEER FLY had early speed and raced KENT and TAMALPIAS into defeat, but tired near the end. KENT tired as if not caring for the track. CRYSTAL PAN seemed outclassed. TAMALPIAS had early speed. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. LADY VALOROUS dropped many lengths back of the leaders while racing under restraint in the first half mile, but came to the outside on the stretch turn to make her run and, easily passing KEENE JACK in the stretch won going away. KEENE JACK opened up a good lead after leaving the back stretch, but could not resist the winner. MADRONE closed much ground. WESTERN BOSS, HIGHMOST and PHONOLOGIST tired. DARK ACCENT raced to the front rounding the first turn and, saving ground, drew out to a good lead in the back stretch and was never threatened thereafter. ACHIEVE, always close up, stepped through on the rail in the back stretch when SILVER PALM and SUN SPICE raced wide and finished gamely, although no match for the winner. SUN SPICE raced a bit wide entering the back stretch, but came again and was going well at the end. REBUTTAL could never get to the leaders. WRACKFIELD raced wide enterint the first turn and was never a contender thereafter. SILVER PALM raced wide all the way. Overweight Dark Accent, 2 pounds.
