I ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES " $ . Judge W. H. Shelley, racing secretary at Arlington Downs, and William J. Shelley, placing judge and clerk of the scales for the Texas Jockey Club, who were called to Louisville by the demise of Mrs. W. H. Shelley Saturday, will return to their respective duties at the Waggoner track, according to presiding steward Sam C. Nuckols, who received a message to this effect from judge Shelley. C. W. Pershall, whose stable of twelve horses is at Arlington Downs, motored dowr from Granite City, 111., and will remain for a few days. George Woolf, one of the standout favorites among the riders at previous Arlington Downs meetings, is now en route to the Waggoner track from San Mateo, Calif., according to trainer John R. Pryce, of the Three Ds Stable, who has tentatively engaged Woolf to pilot the Waggoner champion, Heelfly in the Texas Derby. N. L. Naylor, Houston turf patron and owner of Virginia J., among other good horses announced that he has severed connections with F. D. McElroy and that the latter no longer was authorized to act for him. Naylors announcement was sent direct to the Texas Racing Commission. John Oros put in a belated arrival Thursday at Arlington Downs. Oros brought down seven horses from Oaklawn and shipped the remainder of his stable to Aurora, where the horses will, be rested. Ross Higdon was an arrival from the Spa, bringing down the remainder of his large stable. Dave Christian brought in three racers from Hot Springs and H. H. Battle convoyed Black Hat from the Arkansas point. Jockey K. McCray, who rides for W. J. Hyde, motored down from Hot Springs and checked his tack with Wesley Freeman. McCray will be seen under colors shortly. W. McCadden, a recent arrival from New Orleans, accepted his first mount Friday at Arlington Downs. Eugene Drillon, who recently was discharged from a hospital, arrived from New Orleans. Five hprses which raced under his colors were unloaded this morning and Clarence Lang will continue to train them.
