Miss Greenock was working her way forward at a steady rate and in the stretch she sped past Gallaclay, Sachem was weakening fast and Windshield went into command inside the final furlong. In rapid strides Miss Greenock shortened the winners margin, and the picture was used to separate them. Gallaclay was taken through the field in the last stages and, although unable to menace the leaders, she held Porcellus, which came from far back, safe. After relinquishing the lead, Sachem weakened fast and Blue Train and Leading Article dropped back after three furlongs. Cotton Club was always the trailer.
