l TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES Johnny Leyland, who has been riding in New Orleans where racing came to a close Sunday, arrived from the Crescent City to spend a short vacation here. Jockey E. Arcaro who cancelled his mounts for the past two days returned to action Thursday. f Tom Thorp, steward of the Gables Racing Association, will depart after the closing race Saturday for Maryland. A carload of horses embracing the strings of W. E. Jones, Mark Fator and J. Richardson was shipped to Maryland late Wednesday. W. R. Flamming, J. A. Coburn and W. V. Casey filled an express car that was transferred to Narragansctt Park to await the opening of the New England season May 1. W. T.- Trenholme of Montreal, Quebec, who for many seasons conducted a large breeding farm where many of the best home-breds were raised for the Canadian breeding industry, is a visitor. The apprentice allowance on Peerless Lass in the sixth race and Sun Camp in the seventh race Friday were waived with permission of the stewards. The horses of J. D. Norris will be transferred to Narragansett Park" by Frank Colti-letti to await the opening of the New England season. The shipment is expected to leave here Wednesday and will also include the horses of C. G. Rand, E. T. Burke, S. A. Ketchell and Mrs. J. McGraw. Mrs. Frank Coltilctti left hurriedly for Brooklyn, N. Y., when word was received of the death of her mother, who died suddenly late Thursday. Paul B. Codd will transfer his stable and those that he handles for various clients to New York to await the opening of the metropolitan season at Jamaica on April 15. Placing judge P. Galliger will depart for Louisville after the close of the meeting. Galliger has been engaged to serve as racing secretary at all of the meetings in Canada which will be conducted by A. M. Orpen, which will include Long Branch, Dufferin Park and London Turf Club. General manager Frank Schuyler of the Gables Racing Association received word from Leo Shea of his arrival in Denver, Colo. Shea recently departed for the Colorado city to regain his health, which became impaired in the past year.
