j LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES o $ Shoeless Joe, mainstay of the Conn Smythe stable for several seasons; Luxuro and Stavka are in training at Douglas Park. Following a hurried trip to Lexington, Jesse Spencer has returned here to look after the training of the fourteen horses he has at Douglas Park. O. H. Reeds Sanskrit is to be placed in training within a short time. Dorothy W. and City Limit, belonging to the same owner, arrived at Douglas Park from New Orleans two days ago. W. L. Hoag, former jockey, is pointing Exponent and Quick Relief for racing here. He brought the two from New Orleans two days ago. Given a ten-day vacation by his employer, jockey Joe Cowley went to Florida from New Orleans. Maurice Berger, seventeen-year-old Louisville boy, who rode in one race last year, may be taken under contract by Harry Trotsek, trainer of the O. F. Woodward stable. Berger had his early training under the late "Mickey" Harris. S. T. Baxter, who is an old regular at Douglas Park, has returned to the Beech-mount course with the two-year-olds, Neil Jay and AI Jay. The former graduated at the New Orleans Fair Grounds. Following the close of the Kentucky spring season the stable of O. F. Woodward will move on to Detroit, according to present plans of trainer H. Trotsek.
