The latter, strongly handled, saved ground throughout and was gaining slowly on the winner in the closing stages. GOLDEN MISSION worked his way up steadily, responded to strong urging and finished with a rush. SQUEEZE OUT made up some ground. LOSWEEP tired in the drive. NANKIN sulked throughout. KANSASCITIAN made up some ground in the final quarter and finished fast. TOP GLIDE could not keep up, though under hard urging throughout. MIKE WHALEN tired in the closing stages. PAL O SWEEP tired. RAMROD, going in his best form and close up from the start, lost considerable ground at the stretch turn, responded well to hard urging and wore down GLADESS in the last sixteenth. The latter rushed into the lead soon after the start, set a fast pace and continued gamely, but was not good enough. GIFT OF ROSES was hard hustled throughout, but tired in the drive.
