CHAS. L KENNEY MANAGER AT COLDSTREAM STUD .... ... . . LEXINGTON, Ky., April 2. Chas. A. Ken-ney of Paris, Ky., has been appointed manager of the thoroughbred department at C. B. Shaffers Coldstream Stud, Lexington, and will assume his duties May 1. Ho succeeds Dr. John Baird, who has been ill since last October, and -who is at present in a local hospital. "Charley" Kenney is widely known and well liked on the turf. Though a young tman he has had varied and valuable experience. After graduation at the University of Kentucky, he began his turf connection as a statistician in the office of Thomas B. Cromwell, later he was on Daily Racing Forms chartmaking staff, working under the late J. L. Dempsey. For two years he was with J. O. Keene at "Keeneland Stud and went with Mr. Keene to Raceland. He has since been working in the offices of the racing secretaries at various points, his last being at the recent Hialeah Park meeting. Now and then he has trained and raced a few horses. All the while he has been training himself for the work he is about to undertake at Coldstream Stud. He is well versed in blood lines.
