BOWIE TURF NOTES j 5- 0 Judge George Donnelon of the New York judiciary was a visitor. J. H. Stotler, head trainer of the A. G. Vanderbilt establishment, stated that he would van the horses having engagements here each day from the farm. AI R. Horback was among the early arrivals. He came from Los Angeles. Marshall Cassidy returned from a business trip to New York. Belmont Evans shipped from Tropical Park to Aqueduct, the horses Gershwin, Ukraine and Al Carlaris. Willie Shea stated that he would start Merry Maker here next week. The colt struck himself during the running of the Santa Anita Derby and his next objective is the Chesapeake at Havre de Grace. John F. Curry and Roger McDermott arrived from New York and will remain for a few days. George "Slim" Sully deserted Times Square for the afternoon. He reported that he was in the market for a few horses for this season. Walter M. Jeffords took first call on the services of jockey Harry Richards for the session. The lad will be astride Matey in the Chesapeake Stakes. "Buddy" Hirsch left for Queensvillage upon news of the death of his grandmother. Dave Heizman arrived from Houston, Texas, and joined Mort Mahoneys mutuel crew. J. H. Louchheims Pompoon will make his three-year-old debut in the Wood Memorial May 1, feature at Jamaica. Prince Arthur, a Chesapeake candidate, Sun Hour and Bluefield, owned by the Shandon Farms, unloaded from New Or- leans on the ailing list. Quincy remainsythe stables outstanding candidate for the Chesapeake Stakes. Billy Kelly arrived from Toronto and will remain for the meeting. Danny Shea, who trains the Flying Horse string, has taken first call on the services of Ira Hanford for the meeting. Richard Dickman, agent for the Bomar Stable, is making the riding engagements for Willie Saunders and Bobby Morris, the latter an apprentice. "Sonny" Greenberg arrived from Florida to handle jockey Sammy Renick, one of A. G. Vandcrbilts riders. Harry Richards, who won the Santa Anita Handicap with the Foxcatcher Farms Rosemont, was an arrival. His book is made by Tony Pedone of Baltimore.
