LEXINGTON TURF NOTES I i e Jack Howard, former rider and now an owner, trainer and breeder, has five horses under saddle daily at Keeneland and they are all well along in their preparation for early campaigning. Heading the group is the five-year-old Blue Gauntlet and the four-year-old Gen. Greenock. These two, with Guadalajara, will sport his own silks, while Pots Daughter will run for Mrs. Howard. Saxet, bay gelding by Pompey Hilaria, owned by Leigh Taliaferro, is the only juvenile in the string, Howard having sold all his youngsters to Anthony Pelleteri last December. An important stable at the local course is that trained by Ray Kindred, who developed Myrtlewood. He has six horses for Brownell Combs, two for Lucas B. Combs and one for Leslie Combs, trustee. For Myrtlewoods owner he has Beauty Sleep, a three-year-old, and the following unnamed two-year-olds: A chestnut gelding, by Jack High Paloma; bay gelding, by Blondin Humanity, brown gelding, by Whichone Lotus; bay filly, by Chicle Manta, and bay filly, by Chicle Black Sheep. Lucas Combs owns Woodberry and the juvenile bay filly by Blondin Mira Mira, and the others are a bay filly by Blue Larkspur Sweeping Glance, and a chestnut filly, by Prince Pal Killashandra. The latter is a sister to Mate. The Elmtree Stable of J. G. Lang, Buffalo patron, was wintered here, in charge of C. W. Damon, and includes seven head, of which Fast Stride, Epinique, Blue Marque and Lady Sybil are older horses. The two-year-olds are Colonel Martis, bay colt, by Maris Nut Brown; Nutrush, bay colt, by The Nut Lady Sylvia, and Band Player, bay colt, by Strolling Player Sandmark. Air Pocket, Assist and Method arc the older horses among the nine that C. W. Moore is training for his own account. Breeding of the two-year-olds is as follows: Gray colt, by Kiev Virginia Flynn; chestnut colt, by Prince Pal Betty Gaggin; bay filly, by Saxon Love Me; brown filly, by Saxon Geraldine Flynn; chestnut filly, by Saxon They Shall Not Pass, and chestnut filly, by Apprehension Kanzatanka. Sally Shall, co-holder of the worlds record for three furlongs, which distinction she gained at Hialeah Park, is a prominent member of the stable that Shcrrill W. Ward is training here. The two-year-old chestnut daughter of Whiskaway and Arrow Point is owned by Brown and Fetter of Louisville.
