ON THE TRAIL OF GREY COUNT Dead Calm May Get Another Chance at Conqueror in 2,000 Illinois Derby. NEW ORLEANS, La., April 2. J. R. Gregory, trainer of the three-year-old Dead Calm, seems determined to camp on the trail of Millsdale Stables Grey Count until he satisfies himself on the respective merits of the two sterling young racers. When Tony Pelleteri, trainer of the Mills-dale Stable, announced here today that he was going to ship his horses, including Grey Count, straight to Louisville but that Grey Count was not nominated for the Kentucky Derby, Gregory announced that after fulfilling his engagement in the Texas Derby at Arlington Downs Dead Calm would be shipped to Aurora to "lay" for Grey Count in the Illinois Derby, which is to be run May 22. Gregory had heard that Pelleteri had nominated Grey Count for the Illinois Derby.
