ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES f o s During the absence of William J. Shelley, who is at Louisville for the funeral of his mother, Frank Otis is serving as placing judge and Eddie Flynn is substituting for Otis as patrol judge. Norman "Butsey" Hernandez, New Orleans turfman, unloaded one of the largest stables to have arrived here during the past several days. Headed by Woodlander and Marcabala, the establishment also contains Zuni, Little Upset, Bedight, Captain Joy, The Darb, Making Time, Atit, Comba-hee, Proph, Slant Eye, Law Maker, Flag Cadet, Northern Sir, Biography, Laird, Pecos, Gabriel and Pay Check. R. A. Coward, who trains the Coward and Coffey horses, brought Reelon, Myron, Charwitch, Laro Keys, Irish Play, Hagger-son. Pennant Bearer, Moving Clouds and Benny B. George F. Jenkins has been engaged to train Ski and Phalamo for J. H. Tate. George Fritz, who was one of the officials at Epsom Downs, was granted an agents license and will book the mounts for apprentice Willie Cornay. Eddie Deisan, who formerly made Cornays engagements, is serving in the same capacity for jockey N. L. Pierson. Jockey Charles Hanauer, the lightest jockey in the country, arrived from New Orleans and will ride free lance, and G. L. Smith, another light weight rider, checked in from Hot Springs. J. L. Wilson took over Discriminate, Scrip Money, Wanda Gable, Carus Clarus, Panicle and Sarsita to train for his wife, also Miss Dallas ko train for B. Binion and Gray Dust to train for J. Green. The horses were formerly trained by Edward McCuan, who has twelve head in training for various owners. R. Hightshoe, who has been at Arlington Downs since the opening, left Thursday night for Hot Springs, where he will pilot Mrs. V. Wyses Eastport in the Arkansas Derby. Hightshoe will return to Arlington Downs on Monday. Whitey Dauenhauer, Friday was appointed agent for Mrs. V. Wyse, and will make the engagements for R. Hightshoe and L. Jacque. Jockey F. A. Smith left Friday for Oaklawn, where he will ride Gallant Eagle in the Arkansas Derby Saturday. Another arrival in the jockey colony at Arlington Downs was jockey J. "Goggles" McCoy, who accompanied by Robert Bolton, motored over from New Orleans. Jockey E. De Prang, one of the riders at Arlington Downs has signed up with Dave Christian, Texas horseman, who recently purchased DePrangs papers from W. D. Smith.
