0. F. WOODWARDS STABLE Eighteen Head of New York Sportsmans String in Training at Douglas Park. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 2. Having wintered in fine fashion, the large and youthful stable of O. Frank Woodward , wealthy sportsman and breeder of New York, is advancing through the weeks of spring training in a manner leaving little or no doubt that the string of eighteen will cut quite a figure in Churchill Downs racinc next month. Trained by Harry Trotsek, former jockey, who literally cut his teeth in the business, the Woodward thoroughbreds have been at local Douglas Park since early in the winter. Only one, Zsar, in the stable is as old as four years and eleven of the seventeen others are just two years old. Incidentally, all but one were bred by their owner, the single exception being the senior member of the stable. All of the home-breds were sired by Chat-over, son of Chatterton, and whose dam, Days Over, by Olambala, is a full sister to Campfire. Chatover and the Woodward mares are quartered at the Bourbon County, Kentucky, farm of ,E. K. Thomas. Woodward is also the owner of Chatover. As the five three-year-old sons of daughters of Chatover, under the Woodward colors last year, won one or more races, the stable hopes to produce a good percentage of winners among the younger progeny of that young sire. The three-year-olds are Wahoo, Makus, Dower, Baste, Jadva and Ausan. The latter four are fillies. Ausan did not reach the starting post in her juvenile season. Jadva is a candidate for the Kentucky Oaks. Six of the eleven two-year-olds are colts, with several prepossessing beginners in the lot. Approved names for the youngsters have not been received by trainer Trotsek. A full sister to Wahcoo, which lost a decision to Yellow Tulip by a nose in the Wyandotte Handicap at Detroit last fall; a full sister to Makus; a full brother to Baste; a full brother to Jadva, and a full sister to Ausan are included in the group of juveniles.
