i r FITZGERALD REAPPOINTED Christopher J. FitzGerald was reappointed steward to represent the Illinois Racing Commission this year, ac-I cording to a statement from the com-I mission released Friday through its secretary George Foster. Oscar Bachman will supervise the mutuels pools as in the past and Dr. George B. McKillip will again act as the commissions veterinarian. The reappointment of FitzGerald put an end to speculation rife for the past month, on the probable identity of his successor. The veteran official had been in poor health during the winter months, undergoing an operation in a Chicago hospital. He journeyed to Santa Anita after recovering and finished the season at the Los Angeles track, departing afterwards for New York, for an intensive physical examination. His return to Illinois depended upon the verdict of his physicians. Evidently their verdict was favorable, hence his reappointment to the post he has held since the Maypole bill created the Illinois commission. j i
