OUR CAROLYNE, close up throughout, closed fast on the outside rounding the far turn, steadily drew out through the stretch and won by a wide margin. DUNLIN LADY, off on top, set the pace for the first quarter, saved ground all the way, but was no match for the winner, though going gamely at the finish. PROCLIVITY was in close quarters rounding the turn and tired slightly in the final drive. PRINCESS ATHENE was always outrun. SALZ, off in last place, steadily moved up between horses in the back stretch and, under a drive, closed a big gap entering the far turn, but was no match for the winner. SHASTA DREAM, forced to race on the outside rounding the far turn, closed with a rush entering the stretch and was going good at the end. POCO DIABLO showed some early speed, but was tiring at the finish. CRYSTAL PIER raced to the front in the first quarter, set the pace to the far tum, then tired. CRYSTAL IMAGE was never dangerous. TORO MAK, far back in the early running, closed a big gap on the far turn and was going very fast at the end. MERELY raced evenly throughout. CHICASHA showed early speed, but tired.
