DEAD HEAT AT DETROIT Dolaway and Mary Vito Even in Main Race of Day. Sun Power, English Importation, Third Inscription and Dixie Fox Good Enough to Win. DETROIT, Mich., June 11. In another of the many thrilling finishes which has prevailed during the past several days, Long Run Stables Dolaway and A. P. Canales Mary Vito reached the end of six furlongs in the Eight Mile Feed Company Purse, feature race at the Fair Grounds course of the Detroit Racing Association so closely aligned that the camera failed to separate them. Sun Power, stakes winner in England and H. R. Bains representative, was thirdj three-quarters of a length back of the leading pair and a length and a half before Dixianas Dressy. Then came Mary Keen, the second choice to Dressy, Sun Frolic and More Gay to complete the field. Dressy, displaying her customary speed, established a- comfortable lead during the run to the far turn, but Sun Power, closest in pursuit, and Dolaway, which raced wide all during the journey, held the others safe. Mary Vito was the trailer for three-eighths, but Guymon brought her up rapidly on the outside and although she was forced to race extremely wide during the run for home, she steadily wore down the leaders to reach the end aligned with Dolaway, which forged to the front when Dressy relinquished the lead. There was no excuse for Mary Keen, the Bomar filly saved ground throughout and tired after reaching third place at the end of five furlongs. With a return to fair and warmer weather, the crowd was the largest of the week. Although the racing strip was slightly off for the opening of the program, track superintendent Norman Miller and his crew whipped it into best condition for the running of the fifth race, which supported the feature. This resulted in an easy victory for George Keetons Inscription and also enabled Frank Mauro to score his first success at the meeting. Toni was second, two lengths back of. the Keeton mare and a neck before Sand Baby, which took minor honors from Panicle, B Eighty, Waxwing, Thomas C, and Urchin.
