1 LATONIA TURF NOTES s 4 B. C. Carpenter, owner of Candescent and Natalie Mae, left for his home at Lancaster, Ohio, but will return for Tuesdays program. Baylor Hickman is considering sending Arabs Arrow to California this winter for the Santa Anita Handicap. Hickman intends retiring the son of The Porter to the stud next year and he will be bred to a few of the Hickman owned mares. S. T. Mapp, who has the M. J. Schmidt horses at Latonia, will transfer his charges to River Downs this week. Joe Metz returned from Laurel Park to I supervise the transfer of Marching Feet, Contrast and Ma Metz to, that Maryland course. Metz shipped two horses to Maryland last week. C. W. Moore returned from Lexington, where he inspected the yearlings he has quartered at Keeneland. The first division of the Keene Dainger-field, Jr., stable will be shipped to Keeneland Thursday and the others will go forward Sunday. Daingerfield journeyed to Lexington Monday to visit with his father, who is in ill health. Additions to the rapidly growing jockey colony are Albert Bronsdon, Donald Grant iand Robert Duncan. The boys came from Detroit. Walter Cox, owner of the Good Time Stable and former horse reinsman, stopped off for Saturdays sport en route to his home at Goshen, N. Y., from Lexington, Ky. Frank Podesta, Memphis breeder, was among the visitors. Clarence Turner, one of the leading riders at Latonia a quarter of a century ago, registered Nudge and Transcap. The horses are quartered at River Downs. At the close of the Latonia meeting, apprentice Sammy Williams will depart for Narragansett Park to report to Edward Mc-Cuan, who has leased the boys contract for that meeting. Horsemen are singing the praises of Charles Charlton, who is under contract to Edward Haughton. The Hopedale, Idaho, boy won his first race here and has ridden three winners out of seventeen mounts. Haughton, who has developed many good riders, predicts a bright future for the lad. O. S. Gearhart registered the long distance runner Beckville and the plater will be named for the Latonia Cup. Frank Rector has been engaged to train him. Mary Seibert, Thistle Red and Keene Sport, which Fred Cropper has at Latonia, will be vanned to River Downs the latter part of the week. After Tunicas brilliant victory in the Twin , City Handicap Saturday, Joe Desopo received several flattering offers for the son of Desperate Desmond. Desopo is considering sending the horse to California to carry his colors in the Santa Anita Handicap.
