FAST ROAMER TRIUMPHS Consistent Miller Racer Completes Victory at Fairmount Park. Fourth Winning Effort of Current Meeting Favorites Fail Backers Circus Night Out in Front. COLLINSVILLE, 111., Oct. 3 J. E. Millers consistent Fast Roamer turned in his fourth winning performance of the current meeting when the five-year-old gelded son of Polroma came to the "end of the mile and seventy yards fifth race a head before Sym-phon at Fairmount Park this afternoon. Grey Doll, which finished third, was some two lengths in the rear. .Books Pride, which was installed favorite in the mutuel wagering, finished in eighth place after showing a burst of speed in the early stages of the route affair. The winner, which was away well, was placed under slight restraint by jockey Joe Dyer during the first half mile, while Miss Lampley was showing the way to the others. Fast Roamer was sent to the outside at the approach to the stretch turn and was urged strenuously forward to dispose of Miss Lampley in the closing stages and get a hard earned decision. The crowd for Mondays sport in this, the last week of racing here, was large for an off day. INTERESTING PROGRAM. With ideal weather and a fast track, the program of eight races proved most interesting, with second choices and lightly regarded entrants taking the measure of the favorites. Earl Dew, leading apprentice l-ider of the meeting, was astride Tetrashera when the steel gray colt by Sherab Chrysos reached the finish one and one-half lengths in advance of Fletus to account for the third race. Col. Hatfield finished third and Falls City fourth. Monks Time, installed the favorite, finished far back after displaying early speed. Tetrashera, coupled in the "Daily Double" with Princess Stone, winner of the second race, rewarded their backers with the handsome pay-off of 06.60. WINS OPENER. Perfect One, scoring his second victory of the meeting, accounted for the initial event, contested at one mile. Trumont finished second and Alservant, the favorite, was third. Racing under the services of apprentice Tommy Atkinson, the Mrs. H. C. Rumage colorbearer was prominently placed during the early stages and, saving ground approaching the stretch turn, was reserved for the final drive to move into command during the closing stages and ridden out reached the finish winner by three lengths. Jockey Don Scurlock and trainer J. W. Bernard were a successful combination to account for two of the first four races on the program. Circus Night completed the double when she accounted for the maiden two-year-old event, fourth on the program. Favorite for the event, Circus Night scored a well-earned victory when she reached the end of the six-furlong sprint a half length in advance of Valcola, with Lucky Jewell third over eight others that competed. The first winner Scurlock was astride was J. W. Bernards Princess Stone.
