1 LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES $ s Preston M. Burch sent word that he is transferring his stock to Laurel from New York. Herbert Kerr shipped his horses, headed by Playmore, to Narragansett to await the opening of the meeting. The Kerr horses were raced at Havre de Grace and were frequent winners. Others shipping to the New England track from the Harford County plant are J. Arthur and F. P. Coltiletti. The E. R. Bradley horses, numbering twenty-one head, in charge of William Hurley, were unloaded at Laurel early Monday morning. Edward J. Brennan, racing secretary at Hagerstown, Bel Air, Cumberland, Marlboro, Timonium and many other tracks, was a visitor and interested horsemen in the closing of the Maryland Jockey Club Stakes. Jack Tracy shipped the plater Flying Mint to Jamaica and expects to pick up four other horses upon arrival. Harry Guy Bedwell, trained of the A. C. Compton stable, has taken first call on the lightweight apprentice, Beverly Hacker, for the full term of racing at Laurel. Hacker, according to qualified horsemen, is one of the best saddle prospects uncovered in Maryland for several years. Selby Burch, who is racing a large string on the metropolitan tracks in New York, is due to reach Laurel Sunday morning with Jacola and others of the horses that he is handling. Horsemen were warned by a bulletin at Laurel that nominations for the principal stakes at Pimlico closed Monday. James Ross, Jr., resigned his position as placing judge at Laurel to take up a similar position with the Narragansett Racing Association. His position was taken over by Greg Johnson. According to rumors, jockey Don Meade, recently reinstated by the Florida State Racing Commission, will ride for G. M. Odom in the Citrus State this coming winter. J. M. Milburn, trainer of the Starmount Stable, owned by E. B. Benjamin, of New Orleans, brought eight horses here from Belmont Park to campaign for the Louisiana sportsman. Trainer R. E. Potts, of the Bomar Stable, picked up Little Shaver and Mighty Sweet from the farm of C. F. Hockley and has placed the pair in training. The Bomar Stable will be raced in Florida this winter and according to present plans will consist of sixteen head. Jockey Al Shelhamer, who suffered a double fracture of his shoulder at the recent Havre de Grace meeting when thrown from j the plater Dark Revue, was a visitor. Shelhamer stated that he would not return to-the saddle until the opening of the California winter season. Apprentice Euclid Le Blanc, affiliated with the H. Dattner stable, arrived from Detroit and reported to trainer P. McCabe. Judy Johnson, one of the few women trainers holding a license, has the horses Persian Prince, The Hour and Dorette quartered here. Stakes for the forthcoming meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club closed at midday Monday. Jockey F. Butler, who broke his leg during the meeting at Cumberland, Md., wHen thrown from the plater Suncrax, has fully recovered and will resume riding at Laurel. His book is being handled by Ed Parks.
