EDDIE ROBART SHOWS SKILL Pilots Sweet Adeline to Triumph in the Ken Kling Purse. Good-Sized Week-Day Crowd on Hand at Rockingham Park Happy Picnic Accounts for Opener. SALEM, N. H., Oct. 3. W. W. Adams Sweet Adeline, under alert handling from little Eddie Robart, took the lead at the far turn and never looked back, to win the mile and a sixteenth Ken Kling Purse, which featured a chilly afternoon of sport at Rockingham Park. At the end, Robart had the Sickle filly a length clear of Medway Stables Passing Eve. Bierman, on the latter, claimed a foul, alleging the winner carried him wide in the final eighth. It was not allowed by the stewards. The trouble did not appear to be Robarts fault, nor did it seem that the interference was sufficient to beat the runner-up. Passing Eve was three lengths in front of Joe Hartmans Veiled Lady as they passed the judges. Tobacco was fourth in the half a dozen that made up the field. The winner finished out in 1:47 flat over a fast track. A good-sized week-day crowd was on hand for the sport despite the wintry weather. Ken- Kling, New York turf cartoonist, was the guest of honor of the management and watched the feature from the stewards stand. MISS LEANNAII PACEMAKER. Miss Leannah made the early pace in the feature,- followed by Mary Elise. At the far turn the latter quit to last place as Sweet Adeline rushed by horses to take the t van and opened up two lengths coming into the stretch. Passing Eve moved on her in determined fashion just past the eighth post, where Sweet Adeline began to bear out. However, Robart kept his mount going and was well clear at the end. Happy Picnic drove from behind the pace to beat Rosemain by half a length in the three-quarters event that opened the sport. Rosemain, which set most of the pace, was a length clear of Mr. Brook as they finished. Helens Lad was fourth. The winner, ridden by Evans, finished in 1:14 flat. Lottafun drew off from all rivals in the final sixteenth of the second, to beat Irish Hero by two lengths, with Richstrike taking the third award,- a neck off the runner-up and a head in advance of Inf inata. Irish Hero set the early pace, with Lottafun taking the lead on the far turn, and drawing away in the stretch under hard urging from Vassar. Irish Hero was also driving hard at the end of the journey to stave off Richstrike. ELLIPTICAL LASTS. Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks Elliptical went to the van soon after the start and lasted it out in front to win the third by a length and a half over Mrs. P. A. Shaws Cross Over. The race marked a consecutive double for Vassar. Medway Stables Lady Hav was third a length and a half back of the runner-up and the same margin in front of First Fling. The winner finished out in 1:14. Evans, who won the opener aboard Happy Picnic, completed a double as he kept the quitting Foggy Morn in front to win the fourth event by half a length over Phil Biebers Billys Folly. There were three noses on the post for the place award, with Mrs. C. E. Allens Ipso Facto taking third and Miss Apprehend running fourth. The time was 1:12. Ipso Facto outran the winner for an eighth of a mile, where the latter moved to command, never to be headed. Billys Folly came very fast from the eighth post home but could not get up in time. Ipso Facto was tiring badly in the final stages. Medway Stables Jezreel made good for the favorite-backers, taking the one mile sixth race in handy fashion by a length and one-half over Franedi Stables Dizzy B. Me Q My was another three lengths back, in third place.
